MDOT MTA Launches Pilot Service to Guinness Brewery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Service Will Connect Riders to Popular Destination

BALTIMORE, MD (August 28, 2019) – As part of its effort to serve emerging centers, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will begin service to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore County, effective September 1, 2019. The pilot service on the CityLink Yellow route will provide 58 weekly roundtrips, including nine roundtrips weekdays, seven Saturday round trips, and six Sunday round trips. Travel time between downtown Baltimore and Guinness will range from 30 to 40 minutes.

“Less than two years after expanding service to Tradepoint Atlantic, MDOT MTA is continuing to deliver on its promise of connecting riders to job centers with this new connection to Guinness,” said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. “This new CityLink service will give both employees and the public much needed access to this growing area.”

More than 400,000 people have visited the Guinness facility since it opened in August 2018, and the facility employs more than 200 people. A new bus stop will be installed on-site at Guinness. The CityLink Yellow bus destination signage and associated bus stop signs will read “Downtown” for service ending at Guilford and Centre streets, and “Relay” for service ending at the Guinness facility.

Over the 12-month pilot period, MDOT MTA will analyze the feasibility of the service, and any modifications will take effect in fall 2020. For more details on the CityLink Yellow schedule, go to mta.maryland.gov/schedule/yellow.
