CharmPass Makes the Process Simple, Avoids Need for Printed Tickets

BALTIMORE, MD (APRIL 2, 2019) – Taking transit to Orioles games at Camden Yards can be a home run.  The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is inviting baseball fans to use transit to attend the Orioles home opener Thursday, April 4, as well as the rest of the team’s home contests this season. MDOT MTA’s Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink as well as CityLink and LocalLink bus service provide fast, inexpensive access to Oriole Park. With CharmPass, MDOT MTA’s mobile ticketing app, fans can easily purchase transit fares from their smartphones using a credit or debit card or PayPal.

“With CharmPass, keeping track of printed tickets is a thing of the past, as the app gives the whole family access to their purchased fares on one device.” said Kevin Quinn, MDOT MTA Administrator.

For the home opener, Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink will provide peak-level rail service all day to ease rush-hour congestion. Additional MDOT MTA staff will be available at the Hunt Valley, Timonium, Convention Center, Camden Yards, North Linthicum and Cromwell Light RailLink stops to answer transit questions.

Below is a list of transit options:

LIGHT RAILLINK – Os fans can take Light RailLink from 32 different stops to the Camden Yards stop, located next to Oriole Park. Light Rail operates every 10-30 minutes depending on the time of day and final destination.

METRO SUBWAYLINK – Ride the Metro SubwayLink to Lexington Market or Charles Center Station-West and walk to Oriole Park. Metro SubwayLink operates every eight-15 minutes. Plenty of free parking is available at Owings Mills, Old Court, Milford Mill, Reisterstown Plaza, Rogers Avenue, West Cold Spring and Mondawmin stations.

LOCAL BUS – Fans can ride any of the three CityLink routes (Navy, Yellow and Brown) and five LocalLink routes (51, 54, 73, 76, and 94) that pass near Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The fare for all local MDOT MTA services is $1.80 one-way and $4.20 for a Day Pass, which includes unlimited travel on MDOT MTA Local Buses, Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink for that day. Return service on Metro SubwayLink for games ending after midnight is extended until 1 a.m. with limited service during that period.

MDOT MTA, one of America’s largest multi-modal transit systems, operates local and commuter buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) Train service and a comprehensive Mobility (paratransit) system. MDOT MTA also directs funding and statewide assistance to Locally Operated Transit Systems (LOTS) in each of Maryland’s 23 counties, Annapolis, Baltimore City and Ocean City.
