Metro SubwayLink Repairs to Begin Saturday, February 16 at Johns Hopkins Hospital Station

Trains Will Single-Track Between Shot Tower and Johns Hopkins Hospital

BALTIMORE, MD (FEBRUARY 11, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will begin work on Saturday, February 16, to reconstruct the interlocking at the Johns Hopkins Metro SubwayLink station. Interlockings are a rail component that allow trains to cross from one track to another. This planned maintenance work is expected to continue through Tuesday, April 2.

"This critical maintenance work will help us maintain the integrity and safety of our Metro SubwayLink system going forward," said MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. "We ask our customers to be patient and plan ahead if traveling to or from the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Shot Tower stations."

To ensure continuity of service, Metro SubwayLink trains will single track between the Shot Tower and Johns Hopkins Hospital stations. During peak hours, service will be run every 10 minutes and every 15 minutes during non-peak periods. Service to other Metro SubwayLink stations will be unaffected.

Transit ambassadors will be at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Shot Tower and Charles Center Metro SubwayLink stations to provide guidance to riders. MDOT MTA will continue to keep our riders informed through station signage, station announcements, social media, the MDOT MTA website and the e-alert notification system.  Passengers can also call the Transit Information Contact Center at 410-539-5000.

MDOT MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States. MDOT MTA operates LocalLink and commuter buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, MARC Train service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system. MDOT MTA's goal is to provide safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service.
