MDOT MTA to Partially Shut Down Light RailLink Service from North Avenue to Camden Yards October 6-9 for Track Repairs

Shuttle Buses to Transport Passengers Between Affected Station Stops

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BALTIMORE, MD (OCTOBER 4, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will conduct track maintenance and rail replacement this weekend resulting in the suspension of Light RailLink service in both directions between the North Avenue and Camden stations.

The shutdown, which will occur Friday, October 6, at 6 p.m. to Monday, October 9, at 4 a.m., will impact the following stations: North Avenue; Mt. Royal/MICA; State Center/Cultural Center; Mt. Vernon/UM Midtown Medical Center (Centre Street); Lexington Market; Baltimore Arena (University Center); Convention Center; and Camden. There also will be no Light RailLink service to Penn Station.

To minimize the inconvenience, MDOT MTA will provide free shuttle bus service for passengers between North Avenue and Camden Yards, including Penn Station. Shuttle buses will run at 10-, 20- and 30-minute intervals based on time of day during Light RailLink’s regularly scheduled hours.

“This track work will increase the safety, efficiency and reliability of our Light RailLink system,” said MDOT MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib. “Customer safety is always our No. 1 priority. We ask our riders to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time this weekend.”
