Let MARC Train Take You to All the Action at the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals

Fast, Convenient MARC Penn Line Service Allows Hockey Fans to Enjoy Playoff Games in the Nation’s Capital

As the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals move into Games 3 and 4 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) encourages hockey fans to take public transportation to all the fun and excitement. MARC Train’s Penn Line service enables riders to fully enjoy the experience by providing safe, reliable and affordable transportation to all the action. This year’s Stanley Cup series pits the Eastern Conference champion Washington Capitals against the Western Conference champion Las Vegas Golden Knights.

“The Washington Capitals are in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1998 and this is the first Finals series since 2007 where neither team has previously won the Stanley Cup,” said Andrea Farmer, MDOT MTA’s director of MARC Train. “We urge everyone heading to the nation’s capital for the games to take transit, so they can fully enjoy the day.”

Passengers traveling to Games 3 and 4 will ride regularly-scheduled southbound service to Washington, D.C. An additional northbound trip on the MARC Penn Line train will depart one hour after the completion of the Stanley Cup game in addition to the regularly-scheduled train that will depart before the game ends. No matter how late the game runs, the last northbound trip will depart one hour following the final score. This additional service will operate on the Penn Line only for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday, June 2, and Monday, June 4, and make all stops between Washington Union Station and Baltimore Penn Station. Plans for the potential Game 6 (Sunday, June 10) will be announced soon.

MARC riders should note that there are different schedules for weekday and weekend travel.

Regular MARC Train fares – ranging from $5 to $8 one-way – will apply during the Stanley Cup Finals. Monthly and weekly passes will be honored. All passengers must have a valid ticket to ride.
